“Road To The Rose Parade” Event Highlights + 2022 Rose Parade Information

In just a few days, LifeCenter Northwest’s 2022 Rose Parade honoree, Alex Encila, will have his floragraph (floral portrait) featured on the Donate Life Rose Parade Float in the 2022 Rose Parade on New Year’s Day!

Alex changed numerous lives through the donation of his kidneys, pancreas, liver, heart, lungs, corneas and tissue.

Growing up in Bothell, Wash., Alex made friends everywhere. He played guitar, wrote his own songs, and he could easily connect with others through music. His friends were special to him. They say that he had a way of listening that made them feel valued.

​​​​​​​Alex sadly died in November 2019 at the age of 20 after suffering a head injury at the gym.

Alex was not a registered donor, but his mother, Annabelle, felt that organ donation was the right choice for her son, who had always gone out of his way to help others.

Today, Annabelle is close to her son’s lung recipient, Donald, who is grateful for Alex’s gift of life. Donald is relishing his opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, one of whom now bears a special name: Alex. Donald and his wife, Mary, will be attending the Rose Parade along with Alex’s family to honor Alex and his gift of life.

We were also proud to celebrate Alex and his family while they finished his floragraph during our recent “Road To The Rose Parade” event at EvergreenHealth Medical Center in Kirkland, Wash., Alex’s donor hospital. Please see video and photo highlights from the event below:
