We are proud to announce our 2018 Values Award winner, Megan Bevis! This award is based on leadership nominating staff members and it recognizes employees for exemplifying the five core values of LifeCenter Northwest: Integrity, respect, courageous leadership, service, and collaboration.
As a Donor Information Specialist, Megan works with her department to review donor charts for organ and tissue cases collected by both Organ and Tissue Recovery Coordinators. She works in close collaboration with the Quality department and helps support for members of LifeCenter’s Hospital Development team by assuring that they meet functioning requirements.
Although Megan has only worked for LifeCenter Northwest for a year and a half, her commitment and dedication to our mission and values is exceptional. Prior to her current role, she worked as an Administrative Associate. She chose to take her position as a Donor Information Specialist because she wanted another opportunity to learn more about organ, cornea and tissue donation.
“Megan has been with our team for almost nine months and is such an amazing coworker,” Donor Information Manager Lea Gralton said. She nominated Megan because “she is a critical thinker with a keen eye for process improvement, and she is always eager to apply her skills to every task she embarks on.”
Megan shares that the most rewarding parts of working at LifeCenter is hearing from recipients and knowing that they have been given the gift of life. She says she is also grateful for the opportunity to work with a team full of intelligent, hardworking members who are continuously active and are all committed to working for the same goal.
“It was really inspiring to be in that group of people that were nominated,” Megan said. “It was nice to have won. I think that so many people here work really hard, and it was really nice to see everyone that was nominated – I think they all deserve to win! It was people from all different departments, and that shows everybody here is going above and beyond in every different aspect to make sure we reach our goal of saving more lives through organ and tissue donation.”
In the past year, Megan has joined her colleagues in attending the Washington Governor’s Gift of Life Awards Ceremony, an annual ceremony held in April that honors organ donors that gave the gift of life the year prior. Her favorite part of the event was interacting with donor family members that were able to attend.
As a part of the recognition for her outstanding work, Megan will have the opportunity to attend the 2019 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Each year, LifeCenter participates in the event by sponsoring a donor to be honored on the Donate Life Float. Megan is excited to attend this event for the first time as she has heard so many excellent sentiments from previous attendees and knows that it will be a “joyous” event with donor families.
Congrats Megan and thank you for your unwavering dedication to saving lives!
