Oscar Farias Zepeda
Organ Donor Hero
Blanca Zepeda, the mom of 24-year-old Oscar Farias Zepeda, is proud of her son’s heroic decision to be an organ donor. Oscar gave life and blessings to four other people through the gift of organ donation.
As a mother, Blanca has sought peace and comfort in telling Oscar’s story. She shared Oscar’s story with her Catholic priest in Mexico, who affirmed Oscar’s gift to others and told Blanca that God sees Oscar as a life-giver and to rejoice in his generosity.
Oscar died in a car accident, but this is not where his story ends. One of Oscar’s recipients shared that they battled a lifetime of illness, but because of Oscar’s gift, they can now support their family as a firefighter, helping to save so many others. Oscar’s choice started this ripple effect, and his community is stronger for it.
Oscar’s memory lives on in the hearts and minds of his family and loved ones, and his legacy of kindness is celebrated each day in the lives of the four people he saved by making a choice to register as an organ donor.
“Now that he’s not here it’s been hard, but I stay strong because I know it was his decision,” Blanca shared. “He left me a lot of things to learn from and he made that decision to save other people.”
