Courage

We take personal responsibility and face challenges head-on.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the acquired ability to move beyond the fear when times are tough and challenging. It is the commitment to begin without any guarantee of success. It is taking action in spite of fear. Here’s what courage looks like in the workplace:

• Persevering in the face of adversity
• Moving forward when you feel fear
• Standing up for what is right
• Includes endurance, mental stamina and innovation
• Showing respect when others don’t reciprocate

Service

Through professionalism and dedication, we honor our commitment to serve others and our obligation to be good stewards of the gift of life.

Here are some ways that service is exemplified in the workplace:

Collaboration

We work in partnership with others, seeking to understand and be understood, and finding common ground to build upon together.

Union gives strength. Our decisions and our work are better when we collaborate together. We gain energy when we are all working together to achieve the same goals. Following are some ways we demonstrate collaboration in the workplace:

Integrity

When you have integrity, people should be able to visibly see it through your actions, words, decisions, methods, and outcomes. We demonstrate integrity in the workplace these ways:

• Be ready to work and be willing to go above and beyond your work to help others out if the situation calls for it
• Lead by example; working to a high standard and maintaining professional conduct encourages others to follow suit
• Respect others’ opinions, even if you don’t agree with them
